Warm Up at Texas Discovery Garden

by Stephanie Suesan Smith on January 24, 2011

Tired of the cold? Travel to the tropics Saturday at the Texas Discovery Garden. The heated butterfly house will have a tropical band playing cheerful tunes at 11 am and 1 pm.

In addition, the new insects will be showing their colors for a preview of coming attractions. At noon, there will be a butterfly talk. Colorful tropic dress is encouraged but not required.

This event runs from 10 am to 2 pm. The first 300 guests will receive a free lei. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $4 for children 3-11.

While you are there, you can see the Earth, Petal, Wing / Tierra, Pétalo, Ala: A Collection of Scientific Illustrations and Botanical Paintings exhibition by Cynthia Padilla and Julio Suarez. Their paintings are realistic and correct representations of the subject matter. This exhibition will be here January 28-April 24, 2011. Regular admission prices apply.
